In a time where trends dictate what a band is
supposed to look & sound like, there are some that go
against what is "in",& do what comes
from their hearts. The band ENERTIA, a progressive power
metal band out of Albany, N.Y., is one
of those bands. Its members play the style of music they love
- progressive power metal.ENERTIA's music crosses
the metal spectrum, drawing from influences of
such bands as Wrathchild America, Flotsam
& Jetsam, Nevermore, Galactic Cowboys, Pantera and
Dream Theater, to name a few.. With the
powerful vocals of Scott Featherstone theamazing guitar solos and punchy
rhythms of guitarists Roman Singleton and Dave Stafford and the driving
backbone provided by bass guitarist Joe Paciolla and drummer Jeff Daley,
ENERTIA is bringing heavy metal music to a higher level. The band, while
powerful, is writing catchy, memorable songs that retain a strong sense
of melody. ENERTIA, having been together as a band for about 18 months
have performed 50+ shows throughout the northeast in the last year. The
debut five-song CD, "Law of Three,"completely sold out of its initial pressing
of 1000 copies in less than six months with the disc ending up in six different
continents & every state in the US . The new full length CD entitled"Momentum"
was released in July 1997 and in just 4 short weeks has sold 400+ copies,
as well as currently getting regular radio airplay on over 20 stations
worldwide. On the live front, ENERTIA has been performing in clubs from
Manhattan to Boston to Buffalo & anywhere else in-between that will
have them, building a dedicated following in every new place they play.
ENERTIA is a heavy metal band you don't
want to take lightly - and one you don't
want to miss. Stay tuned as ENERTIA soars to
the top of the heavy metal scene.

BANDS ON THE RUN-UNSIGNED BANDS UNCOVERED
Review by Gina Achord
Enertia- Law of Three
This band from New York rocks! Their 5 trx cd
begings with "The Mirror". Their
singer Scott Featherstone's vocals remind
me a bit of Megadeth's Dave Mustaine. Hard
driving guitar riffs and pumping rhythms
of drums make a good combo. All their songs are
great- my favorite track would have to
be "Child Now Lost". Great hard driving metal. Be
sure to find out more about this band!

THE KOFFIN WEBZINE #20 11/97 Review by Glenn

ENERTIA - "Momentum"
As you all have probably now know there's a band
out there in cyberspace that comes
from Albany, New York by the name of Enertia.
In the summer of '96 they released their debut e.p called "The Law of Three"
which was some of the best power metal of that year and I didn't
think they could get any better after hearing such classics such as "The
Mirror" and "Child Now Lost" until, they proved me wrong with Momentum,
their latest full length release. This album has everything you could possibly
want from a power metal band out of the states. It has crunchy rhythms,
speed, powerful and melodic vocals with plenty of time changes and a touch
of momentum.
Songs like "Ripped Out", "And So You fall", "You
Know" and "Six Weeks" are what makes the album so perfect and classy. You
just don't hear riffs and vocals like these anymore, and
ENERTIA has the balls to take the music to the
limit. For fans of FLOTSAM &JETSAM/NEVERMORE/ANTHRAX etc...check out
Enertia. ~9 bites on the neck

Live review-The Wolf Inn,Syracuse,NY 12/4/97
I had the distinct pleasure to once again
experience the thunderous
metal machine known as Enertia for
a second time at The Wolf Inn in Syracuse, New York on December 4, 1997.
My previous review gives a historical background
on this talented band, as well as outlining their charismatic brand of
power metal with a progressive touch, superb musicianship, and energetic
performance. The band is relentlessly gigging all over New York, Massachusetts,
Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. They also made a recent appearance
at the famed Powermad 97 festival in Baltimore. They are assaulting
metal audienceswith grinding grooves from their superbly self produced
latest full length CD"Momentum", and well as from their first five song
EP "Law Of Three".
Enertia features the the talents of bassist extraordinaire Joe Paciolla,
the frenzied precision drumming of Jeff Daily, the screaming metallic guitar
work of dual axemen Roman Singleton and Dave Stafford, and gutsy and powerful
vocal talents of frontman Scott Featherstone. For a band that has
been playing together for only two short years, Enertia's tight, well excuted
aural onslaught gives the listener the impression that they have been together
for a very long time.
The 50 minute set featured the following tunes:
Ripped Out
(From "Momentum")
Walls
(From "Momentum")
Weight Of The World
(From "Momentum")
Victim Of Thought
(New Unreleased Cut)
Sever The Wicked
(From "Momentum")
Six Weeks
(From "Momentum")
Child
Now Lost
(From "Law Of Three")
You Know
(From "Momentum")
Dear God
(From "Momentum")
From the opening power sequence of "Ripped Out"
through the crunch of
closer "Dear God", Enertia displayed an enthusiasm
and energy that is
characteristic of a unique metal
act. The churning rhythm section of Joe Paciolla
and Jeff Daily was nothing short of spectacular.
For those of you who like your
metal with pounding, "here
comes the cavalry" bottom end work, then the speedy,
Steve Harris influenced bass runs of Paciolla
and locomotive double bass
and precision tom-tom,
snare and high hat work of Daley will serve your palette
quite nicely. The dual axe
rhythm work of Singleton and Stafford was perfectly
timed and gave the music its high end power --
a considerable feat since the band
had some difficulty in hearing themselves in the tiny, cramped, smoked
filled tavern.
Singleton's neo-classical fretwork erupted with incendiary heat
during the instumental "Sever The Wicked" -- his guitar work was so
sensational
that an experienced local metal head (who had never heard the
band before), leaned
over to me and said "man, I have not seen fret burning like
that in a long time". Stafford excuted intricate rhythm work flasslessly,
and also cranked out some tasty lead work on "Six Weeks".
Featherstone's vocals were gutsy and vibrant over the metal mayhem.
He
sings with a snarling, yet melodic midrange, which fits power cuts like
"Weight
Of The World" and "Dear God" like a glove. However, he also
showcased his smoother, upper
end range on the more intricate cuts like exquisite
"Six Weeks" and the superb new composition, "Victim Of Thought".
It was a dazzling experience for me, and I was sincerely pumped up
when during the performance,
Scott announced that "this one's dedicated to Dom"
and the band cranked
into "Child Now Lost" -- one of my personal favorites. I
was able to chat with the band before and after the performance.
It is
clear to me that
they clearly love to play their music with energy and abandon,
much to
the delight of their fans and the crowd. They are very humble about
their accomplishments,
which includes the astoundingly produced, packaged, and
played independent
CD's referred to above. Enertia is clearly a hard working,
no nonsense metal outfit with extraordinary playing ability and great
attitude towards music,
metal, the fans, and themselves. They possess that extra
charismatic
presence which should entitle them to enter that next level of
heavy metal -- signing on with a quality label. The question is not
"Why
aren't
these guys signed up", but rather the real question will be, "When
will these guys get signed up by a smart metal label?"
Dom C.
